Self Care During The Holidays

Hello There, Friend.

Self Care. We tend to hear those words often... but are we really paying attention? Are we making sure that while we are spending our time caring for those around us, we are also stopping to make sure that we are OK too? Unfortunately the answer isn't always yes, folks.

Self Care is important for us to maintain a balance in our lives. To be functioning optimally we need to carve out a little time each day... to do something that's just for us. Something that feeds our soul and makes us feel refreshed and cared for.

"You can't pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first."

While practicing Self Care throughout the year is important, I feel it's extra important that we mindfully practice self care during the holidays. Let's face it, most of our schedules start getting a little bit hectic this time of year and it's easy to push ourselves aside in favor of keeping up with the unreasonable expectations we set for ourselves. We can't do that! We need to find a balance! Yes, it is the season of giving... but we cannot give to others at the expense of our own physical, emotional, and mental health.

It's personally taken me a long time to realize the true value of Self Care. That taking care of myself was not in fact selfish, but instead incredibly important and needed. How can you possibly expect to be able to help others, or be your best self... if you are always running on empty? You can't! You just cannot do that long term. You will burn yourself out... trust me!

Remember... YOU matter! Know your worth!

Below I will share, what I think, are some wonderful Self Care ideas. It is only you though who can ultimately decide which activities help you to feel your very best. My hope is that my list of ideas will help get your creative juices flowing so that you find some "me time" activities that help you to feel truly amazing.
